This Privacy Policy explains how ExpressYou™ collects, uses, shares, stores, and deletes information when you use our mobile app, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

1. Information We Collect

Depending on how you use the Service, we may collect:

  • Account and profile information: such as your name, email address, initials, profile details, and account identifiers.
  • Authentication information: information received when you sign in with email, Google, or Apple, such as login provider identifiers and verified account details.
  • User content: message prompts, generated messages, edits, drafts, notes, screenshots, and images you upload or submit through the Service.
  • Contacts data: contact information you choose to import from your device, such as names, phone numbers, email addresses, company names, and birthdays.
  • Photos and profile images: images you select from your library or upload for profiles, people, or message workflows.
  • Subscription and transaction data: your plan, subscription status, billing cycle, product identifiers, store transaction metadata, and renewal or expiration information provided through Apple or Google.
  • Device, usage, and diagnostics data: such as app version, build number, device type, platform, operating system, feature usage, screen interactions, and technical event data.
  • Push notification data: notification preferences, reminder settings, and device push tokens if you enable notifications.
  • Support and deletion request information: information you provide when contacting support or submitting a privacy or deletion request.

2. How We Collect Information

We collect information:

  • Directly from you when you create an account or use features
  • From your device when you grant permission for contacts, photos, or notifications
  • From authentication providers such as Apple and Google when you sign in
  • From Apple App Store and Google Play systems for subscription status and purchase validation
  • Automatically through analytics, diagnostics, and security tooling when you use the Service

3. How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • Provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Service
  • Authenticate users and keep accounts secure
  • Generate, refine, personalize, and store message suggestions
  • Support contact import, reminders, notifications, and profile features
  • Manage subscriptions, purchases, restores, and account access
  • Analyze product performance, feature usage, and reliability
  • Investigate fraud, abuse, misuse, and technical issues
  • Respond to support, privacy, and account deletion requests
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms

4. AI Processing

If you use message generation, message editing, coaching, or screenshot-based reply features, the content you submit may be processed by third-party AI and language-model providers that help us operate those features. We use those providers to return the output you requested, improve reliability, and support product functionality.

5. Third-Party Services and Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with service providers and partners that help us operate the Service, subject to contractual, technical, or organizational safeguards designed to protect the data.

These providers may include, for example:

  • Authentication providers such as Apple and Google
  • Mobile analytics and diagnostics providers such as Firebase Analytics
  • Cloud hosting, storage, and infrastructure providers
  • AI providers that power message-generation features
  • Customer support, email, and operational service providers
  • Apple App Store and Google Play for subscription processing and validation

We may also disclose information when required by law, to respond to lawful requests, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or asset transfer.

We require third parties with whom we share user data to provide protections that are consistent with applicable law and with this Privacy Policy.

6. Permissions and Your Choices

Some features require device permissions. You may deny or revoke permissions through your device settings, but certain features may no longer work as intended.

  • Contacts: used only if you choose to import or use contacts in people-related features.
  • Photos: used only if you choose to upload or select an image or screenshot.
  • Notifications: used only if you choose to enable reminders or notifications.

7. Data Retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, maintain subscriptions and account records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, prevent fraud, comply with legal obligations, and support legitimate business operations.

Retention periods may vary by data type. For example, active account data is generally retained while your account remains active, while some logs, support records, billing records, or legal compliance records may be retained for longer if required or permitted by law.

8. Account Deletion and Data Deletion

If you create an account, you can request deletion from within the app through the account settings flow. We may also provide a web form or support channel for deletion requests.

When your account is deleted, we aim to delete or de-identify:

  • Your account profile and login access
  • Saved people, reminders, and uploaded assets associated with your account
  • Stored message content and related user content, except where retention is legally required

We may retain limited information after deletion where necessary for legal compliance, fraud prevention, security, transaction records, dispute resolution, or to enforce our agreements.

If deletion is not completed immediately, we will process it within a reasonable time and may verify your identity before acting on the request.

Deleting your account does not automatically cancel an active App Store or Google Play subscription. You must manage or cancel those subscriptions through Apple or Google, as applicable.

9. Sign in with Apple

If you use Sign in with Apple, we may receive identifiers and account details made available by Apple. When applicable, we will handle account deletion and related authentication data in accordance with Apple's platform requirements and our legal obligations.

10. Analytics and Tracking

We use analytics and product measurement tools to understand how people use the Service, improve features, monitor stability, and measure performance. We do not state here that we use data for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.

11. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards intended to protect information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.

12. International Processing

Your information may be processed and stored in the United States and other countries where we or our service providers operate. Those jurisdictions may have data protection rules that differ from those in your location.

13. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can review and address the issue.

14. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, update, delete, or restrict certain personal information, or to object to certain processing. You may also have the right to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
